Off Road Racing The Leap

The Big Jump Off Road Racing

In my last post I talked about on road racing and some tips. With this post were going to do a complete 360 and go off road for a bit. I'm gonna hit some topics that I feel will help you to step up your game.

Preparing For The Off Road Race

Taking a look at the bigger picture is what this is all about. Most people think well as long as I can drive
i'm good to go and in most cases i'm not one to argue that point. Double checking over all your equipment
and making sure that the maintenance along with every part is up to key for race day is apart of that big picture. Along with making sure you know the Off Road Racing track and the conditions your racing in.
Practice that's probably the biggest factor in this kind of hobbie. I would say getting out and hitting a track maybe 3 times a week even running laps around your yard helps before a race. But hitting the track will allow a better practice course helping you to take your rc car action further,

The Starting Gate

When you first start out of the gate it may be hard to get a decent jump on the rest of the pack. The anticipation can get the best of us. If you can get a head at the start try to distance your self from the other cars so that your not
subjected to a collision. For the first turn try to get the inside line then find your groove. If at the start you don't get a jump on the other guys then relax don't try to gun it for the outside line take a step back and find your spot on the inside going outside is a disaster waiting to happen. Try to listen and really feel the start of the off road rc car race visualize the first turn and take the lead.

Playing Cat and Mouse

With today's drivers racing off road the skill level is impeccable and there is no margin for error. When in the lead some tend to slap it into cruise control a little to early and that's when other drivers make there move. With that being said you need to maintain your lead with out being to risky you don't want to get caught.
Now for the mouse game trying to catch up can be pain at this point your going to be driving very aggressively taking more risks thank you normally would. This may mean pulling every trick out of the bag, Everyone knows you have to drive faster to catch up but if you can take that corner a little faster or make a couple single jumps into a double or triple all the little things will shave the distance between you and the leader.

Quick Technique Tip For Taking The Jump

Off road racing takes tons of technique which you will always hear me say. One of the biggest facts is jumping its one of the hardest skills for drivers to really grasp onto. It seems simple for every action has an equal and opposite reaction just keep that in mind.
Now when you take that leap off the jump hitting your breaks can cause the nose of your car to dive down "nose down" this is because your slowing the forward wheel speed. To have the opposite reaction and balance out your car your going to need to give it a little throttle to regain that moment in the wheel speed in doing this your cars nose will then raise back up "nose up". For landing your going to want to keep your car
angled just enough to get that extra boost when coming down the other side of the jump setting you up perfect for the next big leap. That's all for off road racing just take the leap.

Thanks for reading hope this had all the info your looking for. Be sure to check back in for more Rc Car Action.
